Before and After Microdermabrasion could mean one of two things to you:
- how you should prepare yourself before and after microdermabrasion, or
- the incredible changes you can expect before and after microdermabrasion.
This post covers the latter: the pretty darn amazing results you can anticipate and the comparison before and after microdermabrasion treatments on skin blemishes and age-related lines.
Did you know that all those little pores on your face are actually an opening to a follicle with a hair and an oil (sebaceous) gland? If those glands get blocked, all sorts of havoc can result like blackheads, pimples, acne, bacterial growth and more.
You can expect to see some astounding before and after Microdermabrasion results with regards to these burdensome annoyances.
Ever notice those little black dots that seem to amass around your nose? Those little black dots are bits of dirt that have built up in your pores and then grown over with a layer of skin. Almost everyone has these though so not to worry. And they are easy to get rid of through one treatment of microdermabrasion which removes the top layer of the skin allowing the blackheads to simply slip away.
Before = pores filled with black dirt and covered with a layer of skin
After = clear glowing skin with no black spots
Your skin is constantly shedding and sometimes the dead skin can bond with the oils and get trapped within the pore. This may cause a blockage in the pore resulting in a red or pus-filled pimple. If not treated quickly, the more oil that builds up the bigger the pimple becomes which can cause the pore to get bigger. Microdermabrasion can remove the dead skin cells, oil and grime and even help the pores to return to a normal, healthy size.
Before: red or pus-filled unsightly bumps and stretched-out pores
After: clear skin with no oil or dead skin build-up and healthy-sized pores
Acne and Acne Scars
More frequent breakouts with lots of pus-filled pimples and sore lumps under the skin are considered to be Acne. Acne typically appears on the face, forehead, chest, upper back and shoulders because these areas of skin have the most oil (sebaceous) glands. Microdermabrasion takes off the layer of skin holding all of that in allowing the debris to escape.
Acne scars can also be diminished or even removed by Mictordermabrasion depending on how deep the scarring is. It can’t remove the scarring at lower levels but it helps to brightened and smoothe the top layer of skin reducing the appearance of the scars.
Before: small or large red, tender lumps beneath the surface of the skin
After: diminished appearances of lumps or scars and smoother skin
Bacteria can actually grow in the follicle, causing what’s called Bacterial folliculitis, a fancy term for a relatively common infection of the hair follicles. It is typically caused by a fungus or an ingrown hair, but shaving, plucking hairs and even moisturizers applied to the skin can increase the chances of this bacterial growth. Microdermabrasion kills the harmful bacteria on your skin making for clearer-looking skin and reducing the chances of it spreading.
Before: tiny, red bumps or white-headed pimples filled with pus
After: clearer skin with no bacteria to cause future problems
All of the above conditions tend to afflict the young so once puberty is over you should have smooth, beautiful skin, right? Not so fast…
Ok, so you got through the puberty stage when your skin was waging war against you. But now you have wrinkles to contend with. Some people even begin to see wrinkles appear as early as their twenties. Wrinkles take a long time to form though and are a little more difficult to deal with than blackheads and pimples. Because wrinkles are caused by muscles contracting from below, wrinkles go through all the layers of the skin and don’t miraculously disappear after a Microdermabrasion treatment. However, you will still be amazed at the results before and after microdermabrasion on wrinkles! It brightens and smoothes out the top layer of your skin, diminishing the appearance of your wrinkles from view making you look younger and less tired.
Before: deep grooves in all layers of the skin causing old, tired-looking skin
After: bright, smooth skin with diminished groves caused by wrinkles
Sometimes when we gain or lose weight rapidly or even have a rapid growth spurt as a teen we may acquire a series of these nasty little white lines called stretch marks. Stretch marks go through several layers of skin so like wrinkles, can’t be removed completely by microdermabrasion. But several sessions can have fantastic results where the marks are almost completely hidden from sight!
Before: tiny white spiderweb-like lines
After: smooth skin with almost completely hidden lines
